Gov Newsom’s initiative aims to clean up California

In 2020 Caltrans removed 267,000 cubic yards of trash along our various freeway systems. The SR-60, I-15, and the SR-91 all have trash piling up. California Governor, Gavin Newson, announced a $1 billion initiative called “Clean California” to help decrease manmade litter and beautify the state.

The trash also affects the wildlife. The animals eat the food and trash throw out of car windows. The petroleum and other contaminants leak into the trash and causes the wildlife to become sick and diseased.

This initiative will create jobs for at-risk youth, homeless, and individuals reentering society after incarceration. They’re expected to create over 10,000 jobs.
