San Luis Obispo Prison Leaked 33,000 Gallons of Sewage

Approximately 33,000 gallons of sewage were spilled from the California Men's Colony prison in San Luis Obispo. The sewage that leaked from this spill was treated with ultraviolet twice, but was not fully treated and ready for release when the system failed. The treated sewage his impacted the nearby Chorro creek which feeds into the Morro Bay National Estuary, public officials have posted signs and advised public not to enter the waters. This is the third leak from the prison in four years.
