600 Californian Wells Tested for Chemicals Linked to Cancer

October 18, 2019

600 drinking water wells have been tested for "forever chemicals," nearly 300 were found to contain trace amounts of chemicals linked to cancer. These chemicals were very common in the production of household goods in everything from Teflon coatings to the foam used by firefighters. While there is not an agreed upon safe level for these chemicals yet, the EPA has recommended that water utility companies notify users when a source has more than 70 parts per trillion, noting is as a public health advisory. Many water utilities that have elevated contamination levels have begun the process of shutting down those wells, processing the water further to remove contaminates, and diluting the source with other non-contaminated water. If you would like to see any wells tested in your area, follow this link. https://tinyurl.com/Water-Well-Map
